It’s here everybody….the year we’ve all be waiting for! Quite literally, for some of us. 2025 was heavy in many ways. The year of the Snake brought with it a deep sense of release and change. Shedding old habits, past wounds, experiences, behaviours, beliefs… whatever it was there was something for each of us to learn and to let go. It was a wild ride!
However, 2026 is setting itself up to be a year for positivity. The year of the Horse brings momentum, drive, freedom, clarity and positive change. A year to move into your true and authentic self- whoever that may be for us. It all sounds very exciting right?!

BUT I’m here this January to remind you to take the pressure off. Coming into the New Year, and especially one with this much “promise” can be daunting and overwhelming. The sense of “I need to make all this happen now!!!” and “go, go, go!” , well my friends, let’s take a moment here ok!
A moment to remind ourselves that in January we are still ‘wintering’, hibernating; and that the year of the Horse technically doesn't start until Feb. It’s a time to hunker down, to look after ourselves, prioritise self-care and build our resources (whatever those are for us), so that we can come out in Spring, bursting and ready to roll. I’d even go so far as to say that now is not the time to set resolutions and goals, but instead to set yourself self-care intentions. How are you going to look after and support yourself this year?? Other, more tangible goals can come later once we are feeling the energy to tackle the year.

We run the risk of burning ourselves out before the magic of the Horse has even kicked off, if we get carried away too soon!
So, this month in class I’m going to really encourage you to sit back, take it slow and prioritise you. Because my friends, you always deserve it!!
We will be working with two Yoga themes this month – Ahimsa and Saucha.
Ahimsa means kindness. Kindness to the universe, to each other and this month we are focussing on kindness to ourselves. Finding time for self-care and looking after us.
Saucha is all about nourishment. An essential part of self-care. Nourishing your mind, body and spirit so that you can fire on all cylinders when you want to.
Let’s enjoy the rest this month, build up our resources so that when the time comes to flourish, we are really ready!
Before I leave you, I wanted to share a little poem that I found this morning. It’s from Donna Ashworth’s book “Joy Chose You” and I think it will resonate with a lot of you this January.

Love, Tash xx
