Taking Time to Let Go this November

Autumn is such a beautiful time of year. The leaves are dropping, the colours are changing, and the world is preparing for sleep. It’s an amazing time of year for us to take a pause, reflect and let go of what no longer serves us in our lives.

Autumn shows us that letting go can be beautiful and that it’s a natural part of our lives. It’s seasonal (literally) and something we should do each year. We don’t need to hold on to things that we don’t need. Things that are outdated, old, worn or negative for us. The trees let go of the leaves so that they can regroup over the winter, build their resources and then make space for new beginnings, new life in Spring. This is exactly what we can do too.

Let go of what no longer serves us so that we can finally make space for new beginnings, for opportunities for all the good that can come. If we don’t make space, then we might not be able to find the capacity to let the new in!

Letting go can be hard though my friends. It’s a journey.

It starts by just acknowledging that there is something that needs to be released.

The first sign can come from our bodies, because our bodies always know right! Maybe you have a tight chest, constant tummy upsets, struggling to sleep, headaches, eye strain, indigestion, sore muscles…. there are lots of ways our bodies are trying to communicate with us. We just need to listen.

After we acknowledge we need to let go of something, we can then begin the journey of release. This looks different for us all and I’m going to share my journey with you in my next blog.

But in my experience acknowledging we need to release something is step 1. Then we ground and create safety in our bodies and environments to be able to release- step 2. Step 3 is about connecting to our intuition through meditation, dance, creativity or any other way you like. Step 4 is understanding- that moment where realisation can slap you in the face… the “OMG that’s it” moment.

Then you do it! You let go.

And trust me, it won’t be quick.

To be clear, understanding doesn’t need to mean that you can explain in a really articulate way what it is you are releasing, it can be as simple as a feeling, a rough idea or an inkling.

So – in class this month we are going to be working on this journey.

Working with three of our chakra points:

·      Root – the space at the bottom of your spine. To ground us in safety in our bodies and space

·      Sacral – the space below your belly button. To connect you to your emotional centre and your intuition

·      Crown – the space at the very top of your head. To help you reach understanding and some clarity

We will be working in class on postures that connect us to these three centres as well as working with a lovely releasing breathwork and incorporating mudras (hand gestures) too.

I love this theme, it’s one that is really resonating with exactly where I am in life at the moment so I can’t wait to go on this journey with you all 

Little exercise to try

A great way to begin to tap into our intuition is through free writing. Just sitting with a pen & paper and starting to write. It doesn’t need to make sense, it can be random words, or drawings, it could be musings about your day- totally mundane stuff. BUT eventually you will start to write from your intuition. You will start to write what needs to come out, and that my friends, is insightful.

Love, Tash xx
