Playtime this July Summer Holidays!

The Summer months have arrived my friends and with it that sense that nothing is quite as serious as it seemed only a couple of months ago.

Everything just feels a little bit more manageable and light-hearted in the summer months, doesn’t it?! The sunshine really is a balm for our soul!

Summer is a time for us to embrace our playful side of life. To step into our inner child, have some fun and connect with our family and friends again. Summer reminds us about the daily joys we can find in life. That there is joy to be had in anything and everything we do- from walking the dog, taking the kids to summer clubs or yes even washing the dishes!!

You might be thinking- Tash you can’t be serious here? Washing the dishes? There is no joy there! Well, let’s inject a little bit of fun- pop some music on, dance around and turn it into a dish washing party. See, fun!!

Being a bit silly to make a long car journey more fun!

It’s well known that finding the joy and fun in our everyday lives is what brings us that true sense of contentment. Not necessarily happiness everyday as some days just suck, but contentment overall. The knowledge that we can find joy in the little things, and even if a day is a bit rubbish we have the power to find some fun there too.

In Yoga we call this Santosha and we will be working with this energy in class this month. Playing around with some fun postures and bringing some smiles to our faces. But as ever in my classes, we meet ourselves where we are at. We listen to our bodies and do what feels good for us – knowing this can feel different every time we step onto the mat...and if that's just resting, then that's what we do!

We will be having some fun, working with our breath and finishing with a big smile, because my friends- there is always something to smile about.

And don’t forget if you have a little one (under 16) then you could both come and have some fun together in my Summer Holiday Family Fun workshops! See more info here: https://www.flowingflamingo.com/family-fun-yoga

Playful activity

To kick off the month let's start by embracing our inner child- get us into that playful spirit.

Have a look around- do you have a childs toy, your old toy, a puzzle, colouring book, roller skates, paint or craft kit? Something that would be considered a play activity? Maybe something you'd discard because you think it's a bit silly.

Pick it up...

and start playing!

It might feel silly at first, but give yourself a couple of minutes (or hours if you are loving it) and see how you feel after you've played? Let me know how you get on!

See you in class

Love, Tash xx
