7 Tips to Find Your Daily Motivation

I’ve been talking about how motivation can be this illusive beast and how it’s so important for us to really understand our ‘why’ behind the change we want to create to enable us to stick to it.

But actually, how about the day to day?

Connecting to our “why” is great and all, but that doesn’t always work in helping us actually STAY motivated in the day to day moments. Sometimes we need to physically or mentally do something different to help us find our motivation when we need it.

So, what can you do in those day to day moments to help?

Here are my 7 top tips that always help me to find my mojo!

  1. Change your location

A change of scenery can make a massive difference. Sitting in a different room in the house, office or even going to a café. We seem to find a different energy in different spaces, so switch it up. I will work rotate around the house until I find the space where I want to workout or do my work.

  2. A little dance it out beforehand & some upbeat music

Always seems to do the trick! Get that body moving, breath flowing and blood pumping! Or if dancing isn't your thing maybe a bit of Yoga

  3. Pop outside for a quick walk and breath in the fresh air

Or even just stand outside barefoot in the grass for a moment. A little grounding exercise can help to refresh our energy and get that motivation flowing once more. I’m terrible at actually going for a walk so even just opening a window and getting that fresh air will help my friends!

  4. Figuring out what time of the day is your time of the day – are you an AM or PM person?

This has been a total game changer for me. I’m a morning girl and I’m practically useless after 1pm so I get up early, I workout and work in the mornings and then the afternoons are for rest, play and teaching.

If you work in a corporate job then put your more focussed, harder and creative tasks in the time you work best. Emails and admin can be done in your less optimal time.

  5. Meditation and reminding yourself of your why

I talked about this a lot in my last blog – check it out here https://www.flowingflamingo.com/post/motivation-finding-your-why

  6. Write down all the small steps you need to take to get you to that transformational moment

Set yourself those little goals and milestones. For example, if it’s about getting healthy – maybe a small goal is one healthy meal prep a week. Get into the habit of that and then increase it to two, three etc.

  7. Sometimes we just need a rest

Rest is super important in helping us stay motivated. If you don’t feel like doing it then maybe this one time you shouldn’t. Don’t push on and instead rest. Rest has been a critical part of my motivational journey in setting up Flowing Flamingo over the last year. Without rest I could have easily lost my why – particularly when nobody was coming to classes. But instead I gave myself the time to chill out and that helped me stay on track.

I hope there are some tangible tips here that you can take to help you find that day to day motivation. Your transformation is within your reach my friends, you are on that journey- you can do it!!
