New Beginnings and Letting Go This March

Writer: tashflowingflamingotashflowingflamingo

March has arrived my friends, and with it the sun! YAY! Since coming back from my holidays, the weather has been beautiful- almost like March has arrived with the gusto that we needed to remind us that New Beginnings are on the horizon and it’s not so bad after all!

March is probably one of the most important months in the year. It’s the month all about New Beginnings. We have the Spring Equinox (20th) which is essentially natures new year, aligning beautifully with the Zodiac new year as Pieces season (last zodiac sign in the calendar) ends and Aries (first zodiac sign in the calendar) begins on the 21st March.

OK, but what does this mean? Well, it means that even though our calendar New Year starts in January, energetically we’ve still got about three months of the year left! Those months are dedicated to rest and hibernation which is why we’ve spoken a lot about that in my classes over the last couple of months. BUT as nature starts to prepare for its new year with the equinox, it starts to stir and blossom, so do we.

Pieces season is all about dreaming. So, combining natures New Year and new beginnings alongside the Zodiac’s desire for us to dream in March, it felt like the perfect time in class to explore our dreams and face into the courage that we all have within us to follow them!

There will be these seeds within you- seeds of thought, dreams, action- those little niggles that happen when you are in the shower or when you go for a walk and your mind starts to naturally wander. Those dreams are there. Sometimes we know what they are and sometimes we haven’t quite tapped into them yet, but one thing we can trust in is that they exist, and they will appear when they are good and ready. There is still no rush, my friends! We can take our sweet time to realise our dreams.

Because yes- I know- it can be scary as hell to face into what you want. To throw out what you know, what you feel comfortable with and actually take action to move towards a dream. But I KNOW, the courage we all need lives within us, sometimes we just have to let go of those fears, limiting beliefs and the “I CAN’T” and instead trust in ourselves that “I CAN”!

Having the courage to follow my dreams vs staying in corporate

This month in class we will be tapping into two Yogic concepts.

Once again, we will work with our Manipura Chakra- our solar plexus centre- to nurture and connect with our inner power, confidence and courage. We will do this through incorporating some challenging postures into our classes (all manageable I promise!).

We will also be introducing the concept of Aparigraha- the idea of non-attachment and letting go. This is a concept which focusses on removing our attachment to material things as well as thoughts and our own ego. If we can just let go of fears, limiting beliefs, the need for control in all aspects of our life then we are able to move forward with trust that our dreams WILL become a reality. I’ll be exploring this concept on social media as well as in class through breathwork and visualisations.

If this sounds exciting to you, then pop along to class either online or in Wantage. I’d love to have you.

Letting Go of Limiting Beliefs- activity

Before we even think about moving forward with our dreams, we need to start by letting go of our fears and limiting beliefs.

I have done this exercise a couple of times now and it’s such a lovely way of visualising the idea of ‘letting go’.

1.        Rip a piece of paper into little pieces that you can then write on

2.        Write down on each scrap piece of paper all your limiting beliefs and fears

3.        Take a moment to sit with those limiting beliefs and fears and notice how they feel in your body. Whatever feeling comes up, that’s ok. Just allow it to move through you

4.        Pick up the scrap paper one at a time – read the fear or limiting belief aloud (doing this aloud is IMPORTANT, once we speak a fear it becomes instantly less scary and overwhelming)

5.        Once you’ve read the fear out loud – screw it up into a ball really tight OR rip it up into tiny pieces and THROW IT AWAY!

6.        Literally – throw it, across the room – with emphasis.

7.        Once you’ve got through all your fears pop them in the bin

8.        Sit once more with yourself and notice now how your body feels, how your mind feels

9.        Take three deep breaths

Let me know how you get on.

Love, Tash xx
