What a Year! 2024 Wrap up and 2025 Self-Care Intentions

We did it! We are at the end of 2024 and WHAT A YEAR it’s been!

For me this has by far been one of the most transformational years of my life.

A year where I graduated as a Yoga teacher, left my corporate life, started my own business, established several class offerings that I love and built a brand-new community of friends…amongst many other highlights.

I put myself out there into the world, both personally and professionally and have felt nothing but gratitude, support and acceptance along the way. There have been ups and downs as I’ve tried to navigate my way through this new life, but ultimately, I know it’s been the right decision for me, and I’d do it a million times over. I genuinely feel like I’m now living in alignment with my own values and purpose.

Before I go any further I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me in this journey so far, I genuinely appreciate you all so much and couldn’t have done it without you.

I’m so excited for 2025- I’ve got new classes coming (see blog), my first workshop with my lovely friend Jade (see link), kids Yoga teacher training and ideas coming out of my ears! I feel so much hope for the first time in a long time starting this year and I hope I can share some of that with you all too in class.

In January we will be focussing on the theme of self-care and nourishment.

Oftentimes we start the new year with a ‘need’ to set resolutions. BIG life altering goals that can feel scary and overwhelming. We set these resolutions because the ‘world’ aka the media- has always told us we have to. I’ve never been a fan of resolutions if I’m honest. I always think that you are just setting yourself up for failure if you plan your year in this big, grandiose way.

And actually, the world- the real world as in nature, not the media- tells us that in January we should be resting. Hibernating and taking stock of our resources. Nourishing ourselves and preparing for the year ahead. Ensuring that we have exactly what we need to grow when the light comes back, and the days are longer. Which now we are through Winter Solstice, isn’t that long!! Yay!

So, in January with Flowing Flamingo, we are going to focus on this rest and instead of New Year’s resolutions I’m going to encourage you to set yourself Self Care intentions.

Promises to yourself to prioritise you at times throughout the year, months, weeks and days.

So, take a moment to think of 1, 2 or 3 things that you love and that you find nourish you.

Write them down and think about how you can add these intentions into your life. Literally schedule them into your calendar if you need to – I certainly do!!

To give you some inspiration I have three Self- Care intentions this year. All of which I already do, but not regularly at all!

My self-care intentions

·      One self-care appointment a month i.e. hair, massage, sauna

·      Establishing my own personal yoga practice & finding a teacher I love

·      Reading more non-fiction books or listening to them on audible during the day

These go alongside my existing self-care rituals of daily journalling, no phones an hour before bedtime and spending dedicated time with family and friends.

DM me and let me know what some of your self-care intentions are for this year :) I'd love to hear.

Love, Tash xx
