“You have the power to be free”
That’s right….what a way to start this Augusts blog eh?! But it’s true, you do have the power. Our freedom is something we CAN dictate.
Our own choices, expectations of ourselves, the expectations we think others place on us, limiting beliefs, diaries, schedules, finances…. all these things have an impact on our sense of freedom. BUT despite how much it can feel like we don’t have power and control over these things…we do!
Personal freedom to me, is the freedom to be you. Your true authentic self. Freedom to live the life that YOU want. Freedom to create your own schedule and manage your own boundaries. Freedom to play and have fun. Freedom from caring what other people think (eek a big one I know!).

It is not giving up responsibilities, work, your house or relationship (unless you want to of course), but it’s realising that within our own lives we have the power to create freedom. At work I used to call it freedom in a framework and I think that still applies now, haha!
The idea that “yes I need to work so I have money to pay my mortgage”, is obvious - BUT I have the power to choose what job I do, what role I do, where in the country I work, what country I work in, do I say yes or no to a project, do I say yes or no to attending that meeting?
These are all choices that we can be forgiven for thinking we don’t have freedom in. Maybe someone will be annoyed because you declined an 8:00am meeting, but really is it reasonable in the first place for an 8am meeting to go in the diary? Probably not!
This is freedom!

It’s also freedom to be able to let go of things that no longer serve you; allowing yourself to really become your true authentic self! More about my own personal journey on this in the next blog.
Letting go of self-limiting beliefs- the “I cant’s” and replacing them with the “I can’s”. Letting go of expectations you’ve set for yourself as well as expectations you believe other people have for you (often times these aren’t true, or if they are then that’s their problem, not yours!).
So, this month we are going to be exploring the theme of freedom!
In Yoga, Freedom is referred to as Moksha. True liberation. We practice Aparigraha – non attachment to material things, ego and expectations to aid in reaching this liberation. The idea that if we let things go that no longer serve us, then we can truly fly!

We will be exploring freedom in movement, as well as working with our solar plexus chakra once more to tap into our inner power and purpose. Reminding us as always that we have choice and we’ve got this!!
Please remember that when it comes to freedom I am talking about personal freedom and will only share from my own life experiences.
If this sounds like a bit of you, then come join me in class or on socials
Freedom wellness activity
A simple journalling activity this month, but something that’s quite tricky to actually sit with sometimes. Feel free to sit with this question for a while, move with it, dance with it…whatever you need to do and eventually the answer will come to you.
Question: What in my life do I need to let go of to be free
Let me know how you get on
Love, Tash xx
